Several weeks ago as I was cleaning out our school room, I came across this recipe for gloop. I used to make it often for my children when they were young. They always loved playing with it. Last week I bought the glue, and today I made it. My big boys loved playing with it even more now than when they were little boys! Believe me, when grown men get to play with it, the little boy in them really comes out!
2 4-oz bottles of all purpose craft glue (Elmer’s works best)
2 c. warm water
poster paint
1-1/2 tsp. borax
Combine the glue with one cup of warm water. Stir to blend. Add a few drops of poster paint to get a desired color. Dissolve borax in remaining cup of warm water. Pour borax mixture into the glue mixture and stir quickly. It will solidify fast! Keep mixing until most of the water is absorbed. Drain off any remaining water. Play with it as long as you want!! It never holds its shape but will stretch over hands and get thin.
Keep in a covered container at room temperature. It will eventually absorb oils from your hands. When this happens, it may separate while in the container in between uses. That is the time to toss it and make more!
